Is there a simple example for infinite scroll?

I'm a bit confused about how to implement a very basic infinite scroll (refetching data when the end of the carousel is near).

I've tried using something that looks like this:

const dataSize = data.length;
const [data, setData] = useState<Thing[]>();

const onScrollBegin = useCallback(
    debounce(() => {
        if (carouselRef?.current?.getCurrentIndex?.() == dataSize - 1) {

            setData(data => [...data, ...newData]);

);

Questions:

• Is that the correct way to trigger the event?
• Is that the correct way to update the data input?
