milvus migration between servers/setups

Is the following scenario supported in some way? or via some workaround?

I have a local setup, say Standalone (or maybe even local K8S, say in kind or minicube), then

1. Load data
2. Create index

Now I want to transfer this tested database to a K8S and would like to:

1. Setup Milvus in K8S on a new server.
2. Take data and index from the first tested local setup and transfer to new server at K8S.

Because without such option, I would have to again load raw data into Milvus on K8S server and again create index.

milvus-backup is the recommended tool to backup/restore data across milvus instances.

If your milvus standalone is using local disk as storage, not minio/s3, then milvus-backup could not work. For this case, you have to load the raw data again by yourself.

No, it uses either docker desktop with 3 containers, minio, etcd, standalone or K8S local setup also with all minio, etc.
Thanks, I was not sure if I can use milvus-backup for such cross setup transfer or only for backup/restore in a given setup.

This doc is about how to use milvus-backup to backup/restore across two milvus instances:

The keypoint is the configurations of the minio address/bucket/rootpath.
Backup operation copies data files from the source milvus's minio to the target milvus's minio(create a new sub-directory under the target minio rootpath).
Restore operation imports data files from the backup files(in the new sub-directory under the target minio rootpath) to the target milvus server.

In the latest version of milvus-backup, the address of source minio address and target minio address are separately configured in the backup.yaml:

minio.address is the address of the source minio.
minio.backupAddress is the address of the target minio.

For backup operation, set minio.address to the source milvus's minio, set minio.backupAddress to the target milvus's minio.
For restore operation, set both minio.address and minio.backupAddress to the target milvus's minio.
