Anyone know why course id's where removed on Dec 9th

I am creating something that looks at classes and their assignments, but my code doesn't work because course id's were removed and I want to know if there was a reason

This sounds like something done at your institution. Sometimes, courses are marked as completed by the Canvas Admin for your school which can mean losing access to course IDs in scripts depending on your user level access. You'll want to get in touch with your IT department to see if they can help.

When I try to look at assignments in a course I get 'course' object has no attribute 'course_code'. Also i was wrong about not seeing course id's that was an error on my part.

How is courses created? canvasapi.course.Course.__str__ is expecting each object to have a course code, but for some reason it’s missing. CanvasAPI should build objects with all of the attributes they need to work, but maybe something went wrong here. If course codes aren’t guaranteed for every course, we should handle that edge case in Course’s string method.

You can just print each course’s attributes on your own in the meantime.

I'm nearly positive this is an institution issue. The course_code property is the custom name you can set for a course in the settings. It doesn't have to be unique, either. So, either the instructor removed it or it is cleared out when courses were archived.

That said, I agree with @jessemcbride - the __str__ method should either remove it because it isn't guaranteed or it needs to handle an empty property.

Thx for the help the problem was that one of the courses was "access_restricted_by_date" so it was causing an error. Thank you for the help.
